Shop Technician

Job Description

Position responsibilities revolve around inspecting and maintaining School and Commercial buses. Other responsibilities include installation/fabrication and repair of truck equipment in our shop in Minneapolis.


Complete pre-delivery inspection on new schools and commercial buses.

perform diagnostics and repairs of the following:

  • Engine performance
  • Air & Hydraulic brake systems
  • Automatic Transmissions
  • Suspension systems
  • Steering Systems
  • Commercial Wheelchair lifts
  • Bus HVAC Systems
  • Exhaust & Diesel after treatment systems
  • Fuel Systems
  • Body components (ie: emergency lighting, glass & mirror systems)

Complete Preventative Maintenance of customer fleet vehicles

Perform DOT Inspections

Installation of medium & light duty truck equipment and accessories

Welding and Fabrication


  • Good electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of medium duty vehicle components (ie. hydraulic brakes, gas & diesel engines, drive lines, automotive HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, wheelchair lifts)
  • Own your own hand tools
  • Must be able to use diagnostic equipment such as computer, multi-meter, etc
  • Must be able to stand on feet 7-8 hrs per day
  • Must be able to stand, crouch and kneel for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in awkward or cramped positions and deal with challenging labor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs with proper lifting tools and techniques.
  • Must be able to work in adverse/extreme conditions such as dusty environment, excessive climate conditions
  • Some seasonal overtime may be required


  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • 2 yr technical college or ASE certifications preferred
  • Minimum of two years of related experience is preferred.
  • Must acquire a Class B CDL driver's license with passenger endorsement within 90 days of employment
